6C Teachers

Ms. Collins - Homeroom Teacher

Welcome to Grade Six!

I can not believe that I get paid for being a teacher, I love the ministry that God has given to me. I have taught all three grade levels, Junior and Senior High School and now, I have been teaching at Strathcona Christian Academy since 1998, the elementary school since 2009. I am currently with the Grade 6's and so appreciate the energy and enthusiasm that they bring to the classroom. There is no other career that I know of that is so rewarding and so noble - the opportunity to bring the kingdom into the lives of children and to share with them, the love of Jesus on a daily basis!

Family has always been important to me so I attempt to foster "family" in my classroom. The students are to help and encourage their brothers and sisters in the class. God pours into us and grants us many gifts and I think gifts are to be shared with the world. It has been rewarding when the students catch a vision of what that feels like to both give and receive. Leaving Grade 6 is "huge", a big step, and I want to make as many fantastic memories with my students as I can. At the end of the year they should have a "scrapbook" of memories to fondly remember their years in Elementary School.

There are numerous activities that I enjoy, but topping my list is: swimming, coaching, music, reading, and, of course, spending time with my family. Life is busy and hectic but it is filled with great joy! I remain faithfully His, in His grip and grasp!

Thank you for your investment in our school, making it a wonderful place to hang our hats!

The "big five" are the ones we encourage in Grade 6:

The Greatest Commandment:
Matthew 22:37-40
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’[b] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

The Golden Rule
Matthew 7:12
12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

The Great Commission
Matthew 28:19
19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

Love
John 3:16
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

The Fruits of the Spirit
Galatians 5:22-23
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
